5 Reasons to Grocery Shop Online
Whether you’re buying groceries just for yourself or have an entire family to feed, the totals at the end of the checkout process shock us all. We’re passionate about keeping costs low wherever possible which is why we absolutely love online grocery shopping. Thankfully for us all, we are in an area where retailers are competing for our business harder than ever, and making it easier to shop more conveniently. Stores are now offering a variety of options such as pick up, or delivery. Most have no-fees, or relatively small fees for these services. Beyond this, we have several reasons why we think you should give online grocery shopping a try.
1. Saves you time
Clicking the items you want on a computer is so much faster than driving to a store, parking, walking up and down the aisles of a busy store, waiting in line at the register, loading up your car and driving back home. Even the drive alone can be time consuming, if you aren’t able to work it into your drive home. In today’s world, time is money and think about all the things you can do with your newfound time!
2. Keeps you from making those impulse buys at the store
We’ve all gone to the grocery store with a set list of items and come home with extra items we weren’t planning on. If you shop online, you can put up your blinders and only search for the items you really need. No accidental window shopping online.
3. Let’s you know your total as you add items to your cart
Have you ever gotten to the register and looked at the total and thought, how did I spend that much? We’ve all been there, and it’s no fun to feel like you only came in for a few things but spent a fortune. When you shop online, you know your total as you build your cart, so if you are overspending, you can trim down your list before you hit submit. This can also be helpful for sale items. Shopping online, it’s much clearer to see what items are on sale, versus in the store, when items can be mismarked and you have to comb through the receipt to ensure the prices you paid are correct.
4. Saves you the chaos of a busy store
Is it just me or does everyone hate fighting your way across a busy store with a big cart full of food? Unless you are one of those people who is lucky enough to be able to go grocery shopping at 11am on a Tuesday, you are there with the rest of us, leaning over your cart before a turn, hoping nobody is on the other side about to smash into you. If this were the only benefit of online grocery shopping, I’d still sign up in a heartbeat!
5. Keeps you from searching aisles when you can’t find an item
Probably my second biggest pet peeve of grocery shopping is searching for that one random item you never buy that you expect to be in aisle 6 but it isn’t. You spend 5 minutes wandering the aisles looking for it until you finally find an employee who tells you it’s actually in aisle 9, down on the bottom shelf, where you never would have looked. When you shop online, all you have to do is search the item name, and it pops right up, no hunting down aisles or employees necessary.
If this article hasn’t convinced you to jump on the online grocery buying wagon, I’m not sure what will. It can save you time, money and hassle, which I think we all need. Happy shopping!
